Lehmann House Bed and Breakfast - St. Louis, MO

After the success of Queen Annes in Denver I knew I had to stay in another independent Bed and Breakfast. After browsing my options I decided I liked how the guests who reviewed the Lehmann House talked about it best. I called ahead to inform our host of our late check in and my immediate impression was warm and welcoming. I also discovered this was a one woman operation and the person staying up to greet us was the same person who would be making breakfast for us the next morning.

With a clever bit of time travel we managed to shave an hour and a half off our expected arrival time. We were greeted as if we were old relatives returning home. Had we pressed our host would have happily regaled us with tales from the house that only the walls could verity.

The walls were thick and made each room feel cozy and private. Parking was a non issue with the street itself privately owned by the residents of this block.

For two days we were the only guests in the house but she still did THIS:

Breakfast the first morning:
Egg Soufflé with Bacon
Loaf of Pumpkin Bread
Toast and Assorted Breads with Assorted Jams and Butter
Flight of Fruit
Granola and Milk
Orange Juice and Apple Juice.

The second morning contained a new baked treat - Cinnamon rolls! With an entrée of Scotch Eggs. Plus all the other granola and breads we could want!

We felt like kings with keys to the castle.

With the house we also got the neighborhood. Lafayette Square is a ring of beautiful brick homes and quaint commerce around an expansive green space complete with a playground. While most of St. Louis was closed on Monday we did find two places open that were not only good but gave a new 'Unexpected' theme to the trip.

Next time I visit St. Louis I’ll be staying here again.
